About this cartoon: The number of mass shootings, as defined by shootings involving at least four gunshot victims with at least one fatality (as opposed to a federal definition requiring multiple fatalities) numbered in the hundreds in 2015 – in fact, there were more mass shootings than there were number of days during the year. This toll is staggering, and unmatched anywhere else in the civilized world. Politicians may express their prayers and condolences to the victims, but clearly lack the will to take significant action, despite most citizens who’ve been polled wanting some kind of action, in fear of the power of the gun lobby and aggressive gun proponents.
